Resort Information
Méribel is a traditional Savoyarde village with chalet-style architecture, wooded surroundings and a friendly village atmosphere. Ranging in altitude from the village centre at 1,600m to the lively satellite resort up above Méribel called Mottaret at 1,750m.
There are 3 main areas with accommodation rentals – Méribel Centre, Méribel Village and the highest point with ski to the door apartments is Méribel-Mottaret. Access to Méribel’s neighbouring resorts and the giant ski area are efficient and speedy due to an amazing linked ski lift operation. Ensure that you check the linked lifts closing times so that you can get back to Méribel each day.
We have self-catered apartments in Méribel Centre & Mottaret at varying budgets from 2 to 5 star. The apartments in Mottaret are ski to the door with a free moving carpet and gradual slope just outside which is perfect for beginners. The complex also has several bars and restaurants, a launderette, games room, supermarket, newsagent and a ski hire shop. These apartments are very popular with our groups and families that are on a budget as they are very practical at a low price but will lack the space that you will find in the more expensive 3 and 4 star apartments. We can add evening meals as required in local restaurants and a morning bakery delivery.
There is a street market twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays (check with tourist office) where you can buy souvenirs, local cheeses and wines. The Olympic Centre is open daily, offering a 25m indoor swimming pool, children’s pool, water slide, fitness centre, bowling alley, climbing wall, spa and indoor ice-rink. Snowshoeing, air bag jumps, horse-sleigh tours, snowmobiling and walking routes are also available in the resort.
There are evening toboggan sessions in Méribel Centre and Mottaret which can be booked in advance via the lift company office. A separate ticket and a suitable sledge provided by them is required. The tourist office provides a weekly entertainment programme called ‘Animation’ and it is worth getting hold of the booklet so that you can see what events are on and if booking is required. The apartment receptions can help with this and give advice.
Après ski in Méribel is amongst the best with live music on the slopes from bars such as Rond Point (Ronnies) and the famous Folie Douce. These close about 6.30pm ensuring that you are down the mountain in time for dinner or to carry on the après ski in the many bars. Most bars have a live music schedule and happy hour timings that are worth making a note of early during your holiday.
All of the Méribel resorts are connected by a free bus called a Navette which operates until midnight. After that there are plenty of 8 seat mini bus taxis parked up locally if you want to check out the pub and club scene.

Skiing Méribel and The 3 Valleys
The main reason snow-sport enthusiasts come to Méribel is due its central position in the massive Trois Vallées ski area & it is known as the ‘Heart of the 3 Valleys’. Being linked to the resorts of Courchevel, La Tania, Val Thorens, Les Menuires & Orelle make it one of the largest connected ski areas in the World. There are more than 600km of pistes and enough off piste and snow parks to keep all abilities happy.
The Méribel Valley ski pass covers the slopes in both Méribel Mottaret and Méribel. This is an area of approximately 170km of pisted runs plus ample off piste for the more advanced skiers and boarders. There is a great selection of pistes from green to black to keep all abilities happy. The snow parks have also been designed to cater for all abilities and there is an air bag for the more adventurous. The nursery slopes are free and equipped with covered moving carpets to get you up the slopes without the need for walking up the hill with your skis.
Mont du Vallon is the highest point in Méribel’s local ski area at nearly 3,000m, this combined with the high summits and slopes on Saulire and 3 Marches give good snow throughout most of the season. The warmer weather from mid-March can make it a bit slushy on the slopes later in the day. Méribel’s slopes are relatively easy and perfect for family groups and beginners/improvers. This makes them not so good for those looking for a challenge. We recommend that the intermediate/advanced skier/boarder purchase the 3 Valleys pass.
There are many lively bars and restaurants on the slopes such as The Folie Douce and Ronnies for some après-ski drinks and dancing followed by the live bands and acts in the town centre bars. The après-ski and activities of things to do other than skiing are wide and varied, they are among the best in the Alps.

The 3 Valleys is the largest interconnected ski area in the World with approx 600km of interconnected pistes and extensive off-piste terrain. There is enough skiing to keep the most adventurous skier or snowboarder happy, as well as having plenty of relatively easy blue pistes so the intermediates in the group can enjoy it.
The Belleville Valley is home to Les Menuires and Val Thorens, the highest altitude ski resort in Europe. From the Belleville Valley you can also make a little trip into the largely unexplored ‘Orelle’ valley, (known locally as the 4th Valley!) There are several snow parks in the Belleville valley.
Méribel which is in the centre of the 3 Valleys. It can get a little busy at peak times, but there are ways to avoid the crowds and ski some of the fantastic pistes, such as Mont Vallon. Freestyle skiers should check out the Snowpark Area DC.
Many of our guests enjoy a full 3 Valleys day and head over into Courchevel – Moriond being the furthest away but home to some nice cruising blue runs. Ski down into La Tania and take an affordable lunch break at one of the many snack bars/restaurants with outside seating if the weather is nice.

- Over 85% of the ski area is situated above 1,800m
- 166 ski lifts
- More than 2,300 snow canons, covering 50% of the ski area
