Snow, hot chocolate, beautiful scenery, Santa Claus and seasonal cheer – there’s nothing quite like Christmas at a ski resort. Here are some reasons to spend the most wonderful time of the year on the slopes.
Christmas Activities & Events
In many ski resorts, December is quite close to the start of the ski season, and they love to celebrate it in style! Firework displays, advent shows, concerts, and even Christmas themed markets. You can spend your time off the slopes sipping on hot chocolate or browsing for those last-minute gifts!
You can also help to make it a Christmas to remember with some extra special memories by booking in some additional winter activities. Some resorts offer things like; husky-sledding, snowmobile rides, reindeer visits or even sleigh rides through the wintry woodland.
Avoid Festive Stress
As many of us know, it can be incredibly stressful to make Christmas perfect at home, so why not treat yourself (and the family) to a proper break this year. Instead of spending the day running in and out of the kitchen, or acting like a sloth on the sofa, you can be zooming on the slopes and soaking in the fresh mountain air and scenery. You’ll be able to find somewhere to have a tasty Christmas dinner, and the best thing? No arguments about who’s doing the washing up!
Quality Time
Make those all important memories with the ones you love. Swap out teenagers in their bedrooms for teenagers having fun zooming down the slopes. A family snowball fight is always a good way to finish a day of fun.
Whether it’s just you and your partner, a group of friends or the whole extended family – a skiing holiday at Christmas is one you’ll be talking about for many years to come.
Visit Santa
This is more for those going away with kids, but who doesn’t love seeing Santa Claus? The beloved man in red makes an appearance in most ski resorts, from parades through the town to visiting hotels. He’s even been known to hit the slopes at some resorts, so keep an eye out for Santa gliding down a run near you!
Winter Wonderland
We’ve all wished for a white Christmas at least once; and ski resorts have the Christmas fairytale look nailed. Think about villages with traditional wooden buildings, surrounded by snow-covered trees and a blanket of fresh snow. There’ll be decorations and lights everywhere – your very own winter wonderland for Christmas.
